YOU ASKED, #SACVBALL ANSWERS
After last year's tournament, we received your feedback and suggestions to make our tournament even better. Here are some popular questions and our answers.
"THE PLAYOFF BRACKETS WERE RELEASED SUPER LATE. WE WERE ALREADY ASLEEP BY 10PM ON SATURDAY!"
SACNAGVA: First of all grandma, why are you asleep so early? Enjoy the seeding party and hang out with your fellow volleyball players... just kidding.
We apologize for the delay in posting the playoff brackets online and at the seeding party last year. We're usually good at it, but last year a B team got uprated late in the game. Once a team gets uprated it totally scrambles everything - brackets, court assignments, team assignments, referee assignments and etc. It's a nightmare. We basically had to start from square one that night and reorganize the schedule, print the sheets, and etc. Remember, this is a big tournament with lots of moving parts.
New things we're doing this year to be more efficient:
Work closely with NAGVA raters to make sure we know if any team was uprated.
Have a set start time for each division in case the schedule does come in later than expected (ex: all BB and B start at 8, Women's start at 9, etc).
Communicate any delays via Facebook or captains

"MORE RECYCLING BINS AND TRASH CANS PLEASE!"
SACNAGVA: Totally agree with you. We are working with Jackson Sports Academy for more trash cans and recycling bins at the facility.
We also reminded them to have their staff empty out the trash on the courts and bathrooms throughout the weekend.
"THE REFEREES WERE INCONSISTENT."
SACNAGVA: Like any tournament, it’s always a hit or miss with referees. It’s the same as having NAGVA players UP Ref. But hey at least we had UP Refs for both days....
Good news is: Since people loved it last year, we are still having up refs on both days at this year’s tournament. We will work closely with the head refs to make sure calls are more consistent.
IF you have any issues, let the tournament desk / tourney director know and we will asses during the tourney. Don't wait until after the tourney and complain on Facebook (or Shady Queens of NAGVA). We'll handle it. :)
"MORE FAIRNESS IN TEAM LEVEL DIVISION RATING. SOME TEAMS WERE DEFINITELY FROM A HIGHER LEVEL DIVISION PLAYING IN LOWER DIVISIONS. NOT COOL!"
SACNAGVA: NAGVA handles all the player ratings at all tournaments. We, the Capital Classic Tournament committee, have no say or influence on uprates or downrates.
If you have any issues or concerns about other people's ratings, please reach out to the NAGVA rep at the tournament. OR.... just work harder and beat those sandbaggers. ;)
"CAN WE HAVE A DEDICATED WARM UP AREA?"
SACNAGVA: We will try to find a dedicated warm up area. With 70+ teams in one facility plus all the other activities we have planned in the gym (free massage area, free beer garden, team photo, etc.... ) it gets hard to find a dedicated spot to warm up. You can always do some warm ups outside the gym before your dedicated 5 minutes before your game on the court. We can also cancel the free beer garden so we have a warm up space... oh nevermind.... we don't want to get Saia and Devin angry.
"I'M VEGAN AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS FOR FOOD AT THE GYM."
